Se libérer de la tyrannie du temps

Le sentiment d’être dirigé par son carnet de rendez-vous et de ne plus avoir de temps pour communiquer avec soi-même et avec ceux qu’on aime est de plus en plus fréquent. Rien ne vous oblige à laisser l’horloge mener votre vie. Si ne vous est pas toujours possible de bousculer votre emploi du temps, vous pouvez sans aucun doute modifier votre relation au temps.

 

Voici quelques conseils dans ce sens adaptés du livre de Jon Kabat-Zinn Full Catastrophe Living :

  • Illustration Rappelez-vous que le temps est une convention créée par notre esprit pour nous aider à organiser nos expériences. Il n’a pas de réalité absolue comme l’a découvert Einstein. Lorsque vous vous amusez le temps passe à vitesse grand V, lorsque vous souffrez ou vous ennuyez, chaque minute semble durer une éternité.
  • Illustration Vivez le plus possible dans l’instant présent. Le temps étant une création des pensées, vous sombrez dans une dimension éternelle lorsque vous contournez l’esprit qui pense et posez votre attention ici et maintenant. Dès que vous commencez à planifier l’avenir ou regretter le passé, vous vous retrouvez immédiatement lié par les pressions du temps.
  • Illustration Prenez le temps de méditer quotidiennement. La méditation vous enseigne à être présent et vous offre l’entrée la plus efficace dans le royaume éternel. Comme le dit Jon Kabat-Zinn, « S’engager simplement à pratiquer le non-faire, à renoncer à lutter, à être neutre…nourrit l’éternel en vous. »
  • Illustration Simplifiez-vous la vie. Si vous remplissez votre vie de quêtes triviales et d’habitudes dévoreuses de temps, il ne faut pas vous étonner de ne plus avoir que des miettes pour les choses qui comptent vraiment. Faites le bilan de vos journées et envisagez peut-être d’abandonner une ou plusieurs activités qui ne vous tiennent pas tant à cœur ; vous ralentirez le rythme ce qui vous laissera le temps de vous retrouver.
  • Illustration N’oubliez pas que votre vie vous appartient. Même si vous avez une famille à s’occuper ou un travail qui exige votre attention, gardez à l’esprit que vous avez le droit de répartir votre temps comme bon vous semble. Vous ne lésez personne si vous consacrez une demi-heure par jour à la méditation.

IllustrationMême l’absence de sons peut constituer un rappel important. Dès que vous rencontrez un feu rouge par exemple, au lieu de céder à la contrariété ou à l’anxiété, mettez-vous à l’écoute de vous-même, respirez avec conscience et relâchez votre tension et votre hâte. Vous pouvez aussi laisser des moments de beauté vous réveiller – une jolie fleur, le sourire d’un enfant, le coucher du soleil à travers les rideaux, une tasse de café bien chaude. Enfin, rien ne vous empêche d’acheter une cloche traditionnelle et de la faire tinter de temps en temps.
