Exaltation et béatitude

Une fois que vous avez atteint un degré plus profond de concentration (et parfois avant), vous pouvez connaître des expériences physiques extraordinaires appelées exaltations. (Beaucoup de personnes ne connaissent cependant jamais ces états). La forme la plus courante de l’exaltation est celle du mouvement agréable produit par une énergie imperceptible (ou non) à travers le corps. En circulant, cette énergie rencontre des zones de contraction et de rétention qui s’ouvrent et se relâchent. Les décharges énergétiques se manifestent sous forme de vibrations, de tremblements ou de mouvements spontanés répétés, appelés kriyas dans la tradition yôgique. Elles se traduisent par des spasmes remontant la colonne vertébrale ou des mouvements involontaires des bras ou de la tête.

 

Si l’énergie de l’exaltation est généralement ressentie comme un plaisir, voir son corps tressaillir de façon incontrôlable peut être surprenant (et c’est tout à fait compréhensible) et légèrement inquiétant. Jack Kornfield raconte que lors d’une retraite en Thaïlande, ses bras s’étaient mis, après quelques jours, à être agités de mouvements involontaires qui les faisaient battre comme des ailes d’oiseaux. Après plusieurs jours, son instructeur lui conseilla d’observer le mouvement de ses bras, sans essayer ni de l’interrompre ni de le contrôler. Peu après, les mouvements diminuèrent d’eux-mêmes.

 

Sachez simplement que vous ne devenez pas fou et que vous ne faites rien de mal si vous faites cette expérience. L’exaltation témoigne souvent d’un approfondissement de la méditation. Continuez de méditer autant que possible en étant pleinement conscient de votre expérience et en laissant l’énergie accomplir son travail de guérison, car c’est elle qui libère les zones de blocage. Comme le conseille Kornfield, si cette énergie devient trop intense, interrompez votre méditation et passez à une activité physique plus banale.

 

L’exaltation ne s’extériorise pas uniquement par de l’énergie ; elle se manifeste sous d’autres formes et saveurs. Vous pouvez par exemple frissonner ou ressentir des bouffées de chaleur sans raison apparente. Ou encore avoir l’impression que votre corps est extraordinairement lourd et dense, ou transparent et rempli de lumière. Vous pouvez aussi ressentir comme des fourmillements et des picotements vous parcourir la peau suivis par des vagues de plaisir et de joie. L’exaltation se manifeste différemment chez tous ceux qui en font l’expérience.

IllustrationLa béatitude est l’exaltation puissante qui accompagne une expérience spirituelle intérieure ou une expérience extraordinaire. Les mystiques de la tradition judéo-chrétienne, par exemple, déclarent souvent atteindre la béatitude en arrivant au sommet de leur voyage, c’est-à-dire à l’unité avec Dieu.
