La relaxation du corps

Comme nous le rappelle le domaine naissant de la psychophysiologie – et que les yôgis et sages nous disent depuis des millénaires ! – le corps, l’esprit et le cœur forment un tout ininterrompu et indissociable. Lorsque vos pensées passent d’un souci à un autre, le corps répond par une contraction et une tension, notamment à certains points clés comme la gorge, le cœur, le plexus solaire et le ventre. Lorsqu’il atteint un certain degré d’intensité, le malaise s’exprime alors par une émotion : peur, colère ou tristesse.

 

En vous reliant à l’expérience directe – et par la suite au royaume de l’être pur au-delà de l’esprit – , la méditation a pour effet de relaxer tout naturellement le corps en focalisant votre esprit. Il faut, lorsqu’on débute, parfois plusieurs jours voire plusieurs semaines de pratique pour connaître cette relaxation naturelle. Avant de méditer, pratiquer l’une des techniques suivantes pourra par conséquent vous être utile, notamment si vous êtes sensiblement tendu. (Si vous faites partie des rares personnes détendues au point de s’endormir dès que le moment s’y prête, vous pouvez très bien vous passer de ces exercices.) Se décontracter procure des bienfaits en soi, mais ils s’estomperont rapidement si vous n’êtes pas capable de travailler avec votre esprit.

IllustrationSi vous n’avez jamais encore essayé de vous détendre intentionnellement, commencez par la méditation présentée page ci-contre « La relaxation profonde » qui vous apprend à décontracter chacune des parties de votre corps. Il est cependant difficile de la pratiquer à chaque méditation, car elle demande déjà quinze bonnes minutes. Après un temps d’entraînement, votre corps aura en mémoire l’effet d’une relaxation profonde et vous pourrez alors passer à l’un des exercices de relaxation plus courts (5 minutes) présentés ci-dessous. Pour votre information, la relaxation profonde est le meilleur remède contre l’insomnie – essayez dans votre lit et vous glisserez vers le sommeil !

  • Illustration La douche relaxante : imaginez-vous sous une douche chaude. Au fur et à mesure qu’elle descend sur votre buste et le long de vos jambes, l’eau emporte avec elle toute la sensation d’inquiétude et de désarroi, vous laissant ragaillardi et revigoré.
  • Illustration La chaleur du miel : imaginez un monticule de miel tiède perché sur votre crâne. En fondant, il coule sur votre tête, votre visage, votre cou, recouvrant les épaules, la poitrine et les bras pour envelopper entièrement votre corps jusqu’aux orteils. Sentez cette onde de liquide chaud et voluptueux emporter toute la tension et le stress pour vous laisser entièrement détendu et revivifié.
  • Illustration Un endroit paisible : imaginez un lieu sûr, protégé et tranquille – prairie, forêt, plage de sable selon vos goûts. Explorez entièrement cet endroit de tous vos sens. Notez le calme et la sérénité envahir chacune des cellules de votre corps.
