[1] Amikor itt és a következő oldalakon sapiensnyelvről beszélek, fajunk alapvető nyelvi képességeit értem rajta, nem pedig egy adott dialektust. Az angol, a magyar és a kínai mind a sapiensnyelv változatai. Úgy tűnik, a különböző sapienscsoportok már a kognitív forradalom idején is eltérő dialektusokat beszéltek.

[2] A „lehetőségek horizontja” mindazon hiedelmek, gyakorlatok és tapasztalatok teljes spektrumát jelenti, amelyek egy adott társadalom előtt nyitva állnak, figyelembe véve annak ökológiai, technológiai és kulturális korlátait. A lehetőségek horizontjának rendszerint minden társadalom és minden egyén csupán a töredékét fedezi fel.

[3] Felmerülhet az érv, hogy esetleg nem mind a 18 ősi Duna-völgyi ember halt bele az erőszakba, melynek nyomai csontjaikon látszanak. Néhányan talán csak megsérültek. Ezt azonban valószínűleg kiegyenlíti azoknak a száma, akikkel a lágy szövetekben bekövetkezett trauma, vagy a háborúval együtt járó nélkülözés végzett.
