An epistolary mosaic emerges of a world in which distances have grown vastly greater, but the human need to communicate remains just as urgent as before. In this world, although most advanced technology is now useless or has been radically repurposed, many of humankind's most bedrock institutions and practices have not only survived, but - for good or ill - are stronger than ever: the public library, the cooperative farm, participatory democracy, out-group scapegoating, organized crime. About the Author

Nathan Poell grew up in St. Marys, Kansas and received his undergraduate degree from Benedictine College. After that he spent four years in Colorado Springs jumping out of helicopters. He moved to Lawrence in 2001, earned two graduate degrees - one from the University of Kansas, one from Emporia State University - and is now a librarian at Baker University. He has written non-fiction articles for nationally distributed magazines - Mother Earth News and Brew Your Own - and two poems for Kiosk, an arts journal. He lives in Lawrence, Kansas with his wife and two cats. Post-Apocalypse Dead Letter Office is his first novel.
