* One of the most unpopular pieces of advice I give to students is this: If your idea hinges in any way on technology, you have to be an expert in technology. That is not to say you need to go back to college and major in computer science. But take a four-hour crash course in programming, perhaps. If the “masterpiece” part of your idea relies on something that you are not the master of, and you can’t stomach even a four-hour crash course, it is probably not the right thing for you. You ultimately won’t have an edge.
