Entonces me di cuenta de que no es infrecuente que los libros hablen de libros: es como si hablaran entre ellos. A la luz de esta reflexión, la biblioteca me parecía más inquietante. Era el lugar de un murmullo de siglos, de un diálogo imperceptible entre un pergamino y otro, un ser vivo, un receptáculo de fuerzas no gobernadas por una mente humana, un tesoro de secretos emanados de muchas mentes, que sobrevivían a la muerte de quienes los habían producido o habían sido sus transmisores.
