About the Authors
Avy Joseph
Avy is a Director and Co-founder of the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CCBT) and City Minds. He is a registered and accredited CBT therapist with the AREBT and the BABCP and runs a busy clinic in central London.
He gained a Masters degree in Rational-Emotive Behavioural Therapy, one of the main schools of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2001. He graduated with a degree in mathematics, after which he qualified as a counsellor and then worked in the private sector for many years in training and development. He has lectured both nationally and internationally.
Over the years he has developed many workshops and courses that have culminated in the development of specialised courses at the CCBT.
Maggie Chapman
Maggie is a Director and Co-founder of CCBT and City Minds. She is an experienced therapist who, over the years, has developed an integrative approach to her work, employing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and brief solution focused strategies.
With degrees in business and psychology, Maggie qualified as an accountant working in the City, giving her an insight into the stresses relating to the corporate environment. She then went on to qualify as a bereavement and trauma counsellor before further developing her skills to work with adolescents.
She has lectured for many years both nationally and internationally and developed many courses, seminars and workshops. She has private practices in central and south west London.
Patrick Watkinson (illustrator)
Patrick trained as a Stage Manager at RADA and later Theatre Design at the Slade School of Fine Art UCL. He has had an eclectic career which has included production design for music videos, new plays and large stadium operas. Patrick’s most recent work includes designing with Jamie Hewlett and Gorillaz their Opera Monkey: Journey to the West (Manchester International Festival, the Theatre du Châtelet Paris, 2007, and the O2, 2008). Patrick is currently designing contemporary circus productions for The Generating Company.
