About the Authors
A fifteen-year-plus veteran of comic books, Mike Collins has worked as writer and artist on many iconic characters, including Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Judge Dredd, and the X-Men in both U.S. and British comics. However, Mike has been happiest writing and drawing Star Trek comics for the past decade for Marvel Comics, WildStorm, and the British comics weekly TV21. Outside of comics, Mike works in animation as a designer and storyboard artist, has contributed to Oxford University Press’s English as a Second Language Book division, and various other educational-based graphic projects. He is currently writing and designing a major graphic novel (the first in Welsh) for the Welsh TV/Movie Company S4C, to accompany their film adaptation of the Welsh myth cycle The Mabinogion. He has also provided the covers for all the S.C.E. eBooks since Interphase Book 1. He lives in Cardiff, Wales, with his wife and three daughters, two cats and a dog, and a lot of Star Trek stuff.
Ian Edginton‘s first collaboration with fellow West Midlandser Mike Collins was on Marvel Comics’ Star Trek: Early Voyages series. A comic-book writer of long standing, Ian has worked in the industry for well over a decade and has written for most of the popular mainstay comic book characters such as Batman, the X-Men, Blade, X-Force, and Spider-Man. He also specializes in working on licensed film and television characters, including amongst them Xena: Warrior Princess, Star Wars, Star Trek, and The Terminator. He has also written the comic book sequel to Tim Burton’s re-imagining of the Planet of the Apes franchise. However, Ian’s most substantial body of licensed work is in relation to the Aliens and Predator films, where he has contributed to both movie canons.
Robert Greenberger is no stranger to Star Trek, having edited the comic book version for eight years while at DC Comics. During his time there, his work included the graphic novel Star Trek: Debt of Honor, which earned several industry awards and was named one of the best Star Trek comics of all time at PsiPhi.org. Bob has also written numerous Star Trek books, several in collaboration with Peter David and/or Michael Jan Friedman. On his own, he wrote The Romulan Stratagem and most recently, the third installment in 2001’s Gateways crossover series, Doors into Chaos. He also wrote the final chapter, “The Other Side,” in the concluding volume, What Lay Beyond, and is presently working on another Star Trek: The Next Generation epic and another S.C.E. eBook. He has also written a small number of shorter works ranging from biographies of Wilt Chamberlain, Ponce de Leon, and Lou Gehrig to original fiction like the short story “A Matter of Faith” in 2002’s Oceans of Space. Bob makes his home in Connecticut with his wife, Deb, and children, Kate and Robbie.
Glenn Hauman is a man of many talents and many more job prospects. He was in e-publishing back when most folks thought that they’d be delivered over floppy disks, and decided to finally write one instead of publishing them. He was an editorial consultant to Simon & Schuster Interactive for many years, contributing to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, and many other Star Trek CD-ROMs (and one Farscape one, just to be different). His X-Men short stories “On the Air” (The Ultimate X-Men) and “Chasing Hairy” (X-Men Legends) were featured on the Sci-Fi Channel’s Seeing Ear Theater, and he’s got another S.C.E. eBook in the works. He’s given up on his cunning plan to add extra hours to the day, and is now trying to add the hours to the week, where there’s more room. If he can pull that off, he promises to use the extra time to update his Web page so you can read an even longer version of his biography.
Jeff Mariotte has written over half a dozen novels and two nonfiction books (some in collaboration with other authors) set in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel universe, two collaborative novels about superhero team Gen13, and a great many comic books, including the critically acclaimed Desperadoes. As Senior Editor for WildStorm Productions, one of his responsibilities has been the Star Trek comic book line, and he’s currently hard at work on a full-length novel as part of the Star Trek: The Lost Era miniseries. With his wife, Maryelizabeth Hart, and their partner, Terry Gilman, he is an owner of the specialty science fiction/fantasy/mystery bookstore Mysterious Galaxy (www.mystgalaxy.com) in San Diego. He lives in San Diego with his wife, two children, and two cats and a dog in a house full of books and toys, comics, music, and laughter.
