Epilogue

T ase paced the dark cavern, his ire palpable from the waves of heat emanating from his body. He was so hot the temperature was uncomfortable even to himself.

Not that he minded the pain. Discomfort was the least of his worries.

The rest of the Lords kept their distance, not wanting to draw close enough to get singed. He would smile at that if he wasn’t so furious.

Aron approached. Obviously the Lord was feeling brave today.

“Our plan, Tase?” Aron asked, licking a dark brow with his overly long tongue.

“The first plan is never to allow our Lords to live in the human realm again.”

The other Lords nodded.

“Ben and Bart grew weak and emotional, raising a human child. They grew accustomed to the human lifestyle, to human emotion. They coddled Nic, favored him—I believe that they didn’t want to hurt him or traumatize him. That’s why they waited so long. And look what happened.”

“Ben wasn’t the only one of us who has bred with a human, as you are well aware,” Badon said.

“Yes, I am aware. And he paid a penalty for that transgression. We must find her, this female. She is the key to our future and she holds great power.”

“And we must locate the black diamond as well,” Badon added.

“We must do many things,” Tase said. “And we should remember first and foremost who and what we are. We have been too soft on the Realm of Light and on these humans. We have allowed them to hurt us. Our demons fall in great numbers because their technology is so advanced, while we foolishly think the strength of our hybrids and the speed and cunning of our purebreds and half-breeds can overpower them.”

Tase turned away, looking into the fires. “We have been so imprudent, have allowed our egos to blind us for too long.” He turned back to the others. “And look at us now. Two of our Lords are dead.”

Anger filled him, his power generating flames that licked around him.

“It’s time for the Realm of Light to suffer. And they must suffer mightily.”

His gaze was hot as he glared at the other nine remaining Lords.

“The Sons of Darkness must exact revenge! For too long Ben and Bart concentrated on a small set of the Realm of Light. There are hunters worldwide, yet why do we not target them as Ben and Bart targeted this small set headed by Louis?”

He didn’t wait for an answer. “Starting now, we will accept nothing less than the Realm of Light’s complete annihilation. If it takes all ten of us to personally hunt them down and kill them all, we will do it. No longer will we sit back and do nothing, expect the mindless to do our bidding. Is that understood?”

He felt the power, the darkness, the evil in the room increase as the anger he sent out multiplied.

Tase had the control now. Bart and Ben had led for too long, and their power had been weak.

If there was one thing Tase was not, it was weak. He had no children within the Realm of Light’s ranks, no one he cared about.

He cared about power, about pleasing the Master of all Darkness. His ultimate reward would come with the Realm of Light’s downfall. He would enjoy seeing that very much.

The time was now. The Realm of Light’s world was about to crumble.
