Bob Greenberger has either watched, read, edited, or written something about Star Trek since he was a mere lad. Along the way he has found ways to make a living never straying far from the universe Gene Roddenberry created.
After graduating from the State University of New York at Binghamton, Bob started his professional career at Starlog Press, where he worked on Starlog and Fangoria, creating Comics Scene along the way.
In 1984, Bob began a sixteen-year career at DC Comics, first as an Editor and then later as Manager of Editorial Operations. As an editor, he discovered some of today’s top talents and handled some of DC’s bestknown characters in addition to media tie-ins, including an eight-year run on Star Trek. He’s especially proud of the numerous awards won by Star Trek: Debt of Honor, the first hardcover graphic novel to feature Gene Roddenberry’s characters.
Taking a break from comics, Bob joined Gist Communications, a leading provider of Interactive Television Programming Guides, where he was a producer, mastering the challenging world of the Internet.
Marvel lured him back to comics in early 2001, and he currently serves there as Director of Publishing Operations. The words “excelsior” and “ ’nuff said” have crept into his conversation with increasing frequency.
Along the way, he has done some freelance writing, including historical articles on comics, and most recently fiction. He has collaborated on several Star Trek books with Peter David and Mike Friedman, some of which are still in print, and has written the Next Generation novel The Romulan Stratagem. Bob also conceived the acclaimed Enterprise Logs anthology and will be contributing to Pocket’s program in the future. Beyond Trek, Bob has written several short stories, mostly original works, the next being a contribution to DAW’s Oceans of Space collection.
In his spare time he is an avid baseball fan and, along with Mike Friedman and Keith DeCandido, a member of a fantasy league. His team? The Final Frontiersmen, of course.
He makes his home in Connecticut with his wife, Deb, and children, Katie and Robbie.
