THE CHALLENGE
Experienced portrait and fashion photographers often shoot in sunny locations early and late in the day, placing their subjects in front of the low-angled sun. The result is an angelic glow from the backlight shining around the subject’s hair. Sometimes a portrait needs a little something extra, and this angelic glow adds just the needed punch.
Of course, a rising or setting sun is ideal for this backlight, but what if you’re indoors, it’s a cloudy day, or you’re in a sheltered location? How can you get “sunshine” portraits when there is no sun to be found?
