While shooting in a cemetery in Cape Cod, I happened to look up while moving past this small yellow church in the cemetery yard, and I caught sight of this lone window and its framed reflection. It was a tall window—about 6 feet off the ground—so when I framed it with my 24–85mm lens at the 24mm focal length, it came as no surprise that the distortion was quite magnified. Distortion like this is the norm when shooting up with a wide-angle lens, and it is further magnified when lines are present, such as the lines that make up the window as well as the lines found in the reflected tree. We are all familiar with the converging parallels of train tracks and how the two tracks create both depth and distance. Although these two converging lines of the window do not actually meet at a distant point, they still suggest depth and distance.
