I don’t know which of us was more excited—me or my daughter Sophie—but on this particular morning we were going to see the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Dubai (now Burj Khalifa) in Dubai. We got there early and within minutes were told by the security guard that we could not take pictures from “here” or “there.” Despite my attempts at diplomacy, it was obvious this was one battle I would lose. Luckily, there is no shortage of views of the Burj Dubai, and even from 5 miles away, you can find a vantage point to make a nice picture. As shown here, Sophie and I did find our view and, with a bit of inventiveness, took advantage of a nearby fence and a super-wide-angle lens to frame the Burj Dubai.
