A bag of Doritos almost always
guarantees a flock of seagulls, so all that remained was to have
the two girls on either side of the central figure jump, arms
outstretched, on the count of three—and jump they did. Handholding
my camera and 24–85mm lens, I chose to tilt the camera up a bit
while seated in a baseball catcher’s stance and fired off a number
of frames. The moderate wide-angle, coupled with a low horizon
line, assured me of getting a large canvas above the horizon filled
with flying gulls and “flying” youth, all silhouetted against the
sunset sky.
