It’s hard to imagine that a storage yard for kayaks would lead to compelling compositions, but there was much “gold” to be mined here. As you can see, behind this tall, cloth-covered fence was a plethora of line and color. Reduced to its simplest elements—line, texture, and color—this image is composed of three layers: the top layer is composed of rusty lines, the second layer of green textures and a torn shape brought to life by the third layer, an out-of-focus background of vivid color. As one who always likes to put an image to the test, look at this same image with a grid placed it over it. The Rule of Thirds, aka the Golden Section, is alive and well here, too!
