Like most things that leave a lasting impression, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, UAE, will be forever remembered not so much for its massive size and truly beautiful architecture but for the single image shown here. It is another image of low contrast with a small and important surprise. At first glance you may see only the wall of ceramic flowers, but soon you see the “surprise”—my friend Mohammed, one of several tour guides at the mosque. If not for the tone of his face, we might not see him at all. Are you by chance finding yourself now thinking about a host of ideas for low-contrast compositions? The possibilities are truly endless!
