I shot this image with a moderate wide-angle lens, focused very close, while handholding the camera. Notice how the subject occupies a large part of the foreground, while subtle “clues” in the background tell us about the overall scene. Much like the composition of the flower image shown on this page, this composition offers the viewer an intimate encounter. These are the kinds of encounters that await all of us once we get in the habit of looking for interesting foregrounds. What are you waiting for?
