L’Enfer

The Stars My Destination ( Tiger! Tiger! )

The Stars My Destination (originally called Tiger! Tiger!, from William Blake's poem "The Tyger") is a science fiction novel by Alfred Bester, first published in Galaxy magazine as a 4-part serial, beginning in the October 1956 issue.

The Stars My Destination is, in one sense, a science-fiction adaption of Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo. It is the study of a man completely lacking in imagination or ambition, Gulliver Foyle. Fate transforms "Gully" Foyle in an instant; shipwrecked in space, then abandoned by a passing luxury liner, Foyle becomes a monomaniacal and sophisticated monster bent upon revenge. Wearing many masks, learning many skills, this "worthless" man pursues his goals relentlessly; no price is too high to pay.
<

Letni deszcz. Kielich

<

Anna Brzezińska

Plewy Na Wietrze

Anna Brzezińska to w opinii wielu czytelników pierwsza dama polskiej fantastyki.

Poznajemy losy zbója Twardokęska, związanego wbrew swej woli z tajemniczą Szarką; zostajemy wprowadzeni w tajniki gier politycznych pomiędzy poszczególnymi krajami, śledzimy losy Koźlarza i Zarzyczki – książęcego rodzeństwa, próbującego odzyskać ojcowiznę.

Mieszkańcy, przerażeni wieściami o rzezi, zgotowanej przez szczuraków okolicznym miasteczkom, topią strach w winie i wyrzekają przeciw księciu i radzie miejskiej.

Anna Brzezińska – mediewistka, jedna z najpopularniejszych polskich autorek fantasy, trzykrotna laureatka Nagrody Fandomu Polskiego im.

Można je potraktować dosłownie, to przecież opowiadania fantasy.

<

Balaam, the Gray Prophet

The ancient biblical story of Balaam and his talking donkey unfolds once again in a distant apocalyptic future. Here, gaps are filled, details inserted, and spiritual mysteries revealed.

The world finally broke, shattering into small autonomous units. Small tribal communities, not nations, composed the world’s social order. Life was simplified, not by plan, but by necessity. The unbearable complexity and multitude of laws that governed nearly every aspect of human behavior were enforced by tyrannical, warring states. This situation eventually brought down the world. The social monster consumed itself. The wisdom humankind struggled so hard to win, was lost. Now the world must start anew and rediscover timeless truths. Ancient wisdom was once again new.

In the circle of time, God used unlikely men and women to accomplish His ends. Balaam the prophet was one of them. He was broken man, yet he was chosen to be an instrument of the Lord, furthering the divine plan in a decaying world. Balaam was God’s instrument — despite himself.
<

Which forces Lily to send Calder away. Calder goes, feeling rejected and more than a little tempted to revert to his hunting ways.

What both of them overlook is the present: Calder's sisters, Maris and Pavati, are fighting for control of the mermaid clan, and now that Lily and her dad have transformed into mer-creatures, both mermaids vie for daughter and father as allies. Eunoia

Poetry. Fiction. Cross Genre. "A marvelous, musical texture of rhymes and echoes"-Harry Matthews. "Eunoia" is the shortest word in English to contain all five vowels, and the word quite literally means "beautiful thinking." EUNOIA is a universal lipogram, in which each chapter restricts itself to the use of a single vowel. Directly inspired by the exploits of Oulipo-the avant-garde coterie renowned for its literary experimentation with extreme formalistic constraints-the text makes a Sisyphean spectacle of its labor, willfully crippling its language in order to show that, even under such improbable conditions of duress, language can still express uncanny thought. A triumphant feat, seven years in the making, this work of literature is "an exemplary monument for 21st-century poetry"-Charles Bernstein.<

Giving In

Surrender Trilogy

Kylie sees the way Jensen looks at her. The dark promise in his eyes. That rough edge of dominance she knows he possesses. But dominance is the one thing that frightens her above all else. She and her brother barely survived a childhood steeped in violence and abuse. She could never give up total control and submit to a man. Especially a man like Jensen. Could she?

Jensen sees the shadows in Kylie’s eyes. Knows he has to tread very carefully or risk losing any chance he has with her. All he wants is the opportunity to show her that dominance doesn’t equal pain, bondage or discipline. That emotional surrender is the most powerful of all, and that to submit—fully to him—will fulfill the aching void in her heart in a way nothing else ever will.
<
